ECRI Institute, in conjunction with the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation, is co-sponsoring a [removed]Medical Device Alarms Summit[/removed], October 4-5, 2011, in Herndon, Va.

The summit will feature a keynote speech, titled “How We Got Here: Regulatory, Liability, and Risk Management Limitations Impacting Medical Device Alarms (Unintended Consequences of a “No Risk Tolerated” World),” by James P. Keller, vice president of health technology evaluation and safety at ECRI Institute.

The multidisciplinary summit of medical device industry representatives, clinicians, clinical engineers and technicians, academics, patient safety officers, subject experts, and other stakeholders is aimed at developing priorities related to safety and effectiveness of medical device/system alarms.
