EarlySense, a manufacturer of contact-free, health sensing and analytics, has signed a co-marketing agreement with Herman Miller-Nemschoff to offer healthcare furniture pre-enabled to accept EarlySense contact-free sensor-based monitoring.
According to a company news release, there will be a number of chair models which will be available to accept the EarlySense technology. Once enabled, the chairs will allow caregivers the ability to monitor patient’s Heart and Respiratory Rates, status in the chair (in or out) and motion for things like a chair exit alert.
Early user feedback suggests that the combination of innovative chairs with embedded sensors attached to a monitoring platform is particularly useful in areas where therapy is delivered, such as infusion therapy centers, and dialysis treatment areas, EarlySense says.
Tim O’Malley, president of EarlySense, said the partnership will enhance the ability of caregivers to monitor patients continuously in a non-contact manner, while patients are receiving critical therapy. “Our technology has substantial and growing evidence regarding the impact that continuous, non-contact monitoring is having on avoiding adverse events. We believe that expanding into clinical environments where monitoring has not historically been possible due to technological limitations will continue to build evidence around the benefit this combined technology will bring to patient care and outcomes,” he said.
The partnership is one of several EarlySense has completed in the past several months, among others with Welch Allyn, Samsung, Beurer, Icon Fitness and Mitsui in Japan.
