According to the American Lung Association, America has reached a tipping point in the burden of COPD.
COPD traditionally was considered a man’s disease, but it now kills more women in the United States than men.
Women account for 58% of the 14.7 million people in the US living with the disease and 53% of those who die from it, according to the American Lung Association.
Nearly 8% of women in the US have reported a COPD diagnosis, compared with just under 6% of men.
