News StoriesPhilips Introduces LiteTouch Aerosol Delivery Mask
The LiteTouch mask features a soft-seal that contours to the patient’s face with a minimal amount of pressure. The mask fits onto the mouthpiece of a Philips Respironics valve holding chamber (VHC) and functions by touching the mask seal lightly to the patient’s face. According to the company, recent studies demonstrate that the LiteTouch mask helps eliminate leaks with less applied force when compared to silicone masks. Additionally, the mask was shown to be more resistant to leaks when the mask was titled at an angle greater than 5%, as might occur when treating an uncooperative child. The mask will be showcased at the annual Association of Asthma Educators (AAE) Conference scheduled to be held in Orlando, Fla, July 30-August 2, 2010.
