New SPIRIVA Respimat Approved in Europe

Boehringer Ingelheim and Pfizer announced successful completion of the approval process for SPIRIVA® Respimat® to be sold in 25 countries of the European Union.

The SPIRIVA Respimat is a propellant-free, new-generation inhaler boasting a user-friendly design intended for easier use, so it is convenient for a broad range of patients with COPD.

SPIRIVA Respimat delivers medication with energy released from a spring, rather than propellants, to produce a long-lasting, slow-moving Soft Mist™. This results in improved delivery of SPIRIVA to the lungs, with reduced deposition in the mouth and throat compared to a pressurized metered dose inhaler (pMDI), according to the manufacturer.
