The Free to Breathe™ 5k is a fundraising program to help fund the National Lung Cancer Partnership’s research, education, and awareness programs. The Free to Breathe program was initiated in 2006 in Philadelphia and now hosts events across the country each year.

Currently, Free to Breathe is on tour hosting 5k races in cities across America. You can participate in the 5K run/walk or the 1.5-mile walk. Participants pay an entry fee of $25, and receive a free t-shirt.

Participants or teams of participants are encouraged to create a fundraising webpage, which can be created on the Free to Breathe website. Prizes are awarded to those participants who raise over $1500.

The next race will be held in Los Angeles on August 3, and the last race is slated for November 15 in Greensboro, NC. Check the website to see if the race is coming to your town!

If you don’t see your city on the list, you can still participate! This year Free to Breathe will also be holding a national virtual run/walk. Register early for this event so you will receive your race t-shirt in time to walk around your own hometown on November 1, helping raise awareness in your own neighborhood!

The National Lung Cancer Partnership is a group of leading doctors, researchers, patient advocates, and lung cancer survivors who are working together to improve treatments for lung cancer patients.
