Nephron Pharmaceuticals Corp, Orlando, Fla, now offers Asthmanefrin™, a fast-acting, over-the-counter (OTC) inhaler for patients with bronchial asthma. The company sees Asthmanefrin as an alternative to Primatene® Mist chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) inhaler, which was removed from the market by the US Food and Drug Administration and Environmental Protection Agency last December because of its CFC propellant.
Asthmanefrin does not contain CFC or preservatives. The active ingredient in Asthmanefrin is Racepinephrine.
Asthmanefrin is available in a starter kit and a refill package. The starter kit includes 10 Asthmanefrin vials and the EZ Breathe Atomizer. The refill package will include 30 Asthmanefrin vials.
