As of this writing, it seems that two of the most frequently asked questions are, will Michael Jordan retire and when will RT magazine be online? At this point, it’s anyone’s guess as to whether Jordan will play another year of basketball, but one thing is for sure: RT is on the Net.

Searching for the spirometry article by Tom Petty, MD, a colleague told you about? Hoping to find more information on a particular subject, say, pediatric asthma? It has taken us a while, but now you can visit us via the Web at http://www.respiratory-therapy.com.

This should be welcome news for dedicated readers who have been waiting patiently for us to offer a database where they could search for articles. At the click of a button, you will be able to access several issues of the magazine; get information on RT’s sister publications, RT International, Respiratory Therapy Products, and Respiratory Therapy Products International; subscribe or order reprints; obtain advertising information; access other health-related Web sites, such as those belonging to the American Lung Association or the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute; and contact us via e-mail.

As publishers, we are acutely aware that being able to quickly access information is the name of the game in the information age. The reason we didn’t jump on the Internet bandwagon, right away, however, is because we didn’t want to offer a site until we knew we could provide more than just a home page, a few selected articles, and a subscription form. We wanted visitors to find the same quality and depth of information they are accustomed to when they pick up a copy of our magazine-and we believe we have succeeded. Our site is attractive and user-friendly, and currently contains the February/March and April/May 1998 issues of the magazine. Our goal is to eventually have the site contain up to 2 years’ worth of issues.

While we are excited about being on the Net, we are also determined to continue delivering the best respiratory care magazine possible. Looking back at the first few issues of RT, it is amazing how far we’ve come over the past 10 years. Our goal is to apply the same dedication to our Web site, so that in a few years, when we look back at the summer of 1998, we will experience the same sense of accomplishment that we have with the magazine.

To achieve our goal, we need your help. Just as we’ve come to depend on you to help us improve RT over the years, we need your input and comments concerning our Web site in order to fine-tune it. As Bill Gates once said regarding the Web, content is king. So don’t be shy. Browse our site and let us know what you like or dislike, and what you would like to see on our site in the future. Your input is important to us, for both the printed and electronic format of RT.
