The American Thoracic Society (ATS) has rated the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Web site the top online source of information about cystic fibrosis. The American Thoracic SocietyATS evaluated 150 Web sites containing information about cystic fibrosis in its "Best of the Web" review of 2008.

"This is an outstanding site with the most comprehensive and up-to-date information available for most issues regarding Cystic fibrosis," states the Society’s review.

The American Thoracic Society conducts an annual review of respiratory health Web sites to help health care professionals and patients identify the most reliable, current sources of information. To conduct the review, a search for Web sites was done through the Google  search engine.  The term “cystic fibrosis” was entered and 6.55 million sites were obtained.  The first 150 were reviewed in detail.

The ATS rates Web sites based on five criteria: authority, currency, accuracy, navigation and readability, and utility. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Web site earned five stars in all five categories—the highest rating possible.

"We strive to provide the best online information about cystic fibrosis and to be a valuable resource for anyone affected by this disease," says Amy DeMaria, senior vice president of communications of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. "We are honored to be recognized by the American Thoracic Society."
