According to the World Health Organization, flu season in the Southern Hemisphere is drawing to a close, with low activity reported in Australia, New Zealand and the Caribbean.

Australia, New Zealand, the Caribbean, and Central America reported low seasonal levels of flu. However, South American countries continue to report influenza and respiratory syncytial virus activity.

From August 20 to September 2, 2018, the WHO reported 82.6% of the flu cases were influenza A and 17.4% were influenza B.
